Borzymowski and Thompson repeat as Academic League of Patriots laureates
BETHLEHEM, Pennsylvania. – Senior Casey thompson and junior Rachel Borzymowski from the Boston University field hockey team were among 11 personalities named to the 2021 Patriots Academic League team, as announced Thursday by the league office.
It is this third consecutive season that Thompson has been an All-PL Academic Laureate while Borzymowski, who won the accolade last year, joins Thompson as the only Terrier to receive the honor in several years.
To be eligible for the Academic League of Patriots team, a student-athlete must have at least a GPA of 3.20 and be a beginner or a key player in their sport. Freshmen or first year students at their school are not eligible for the honor. These honors recognize student-athletes who excel in their sport and in the classroom. The awards are voted on by the Patriot League’s field hockey sports information directors, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.
Thompson has had a strong season with six assists for the Terriers, the best of the team. The three-year-old starter has 17 points (3g, 11a) in 61 career BU games. She currently has a cumulative GPA of 3.80 at Questrom School of Business while studying for a Bachelor of Business Administration and Management.
One of the best backs in the Patriot League, Borzymowski has just completed a season in which she won second-team All-Patriot League honors. His six defensive saves are the most important in the PL and are tied for third nationally. She registered her first career goal and assist this season and has a 3.94 GPA as a major in Biology at the College of Arts and Sciences.
