CEOS has scholarship applications available | News, Sports, Jobs
NEW CUMBERLAND – The Newview Chapter of the University of West Virginia Community Outreach Service will present a $ 500 scholarship to a deserving senior in Hancock County in 2022.
The app is open to seniors in any of the county’s three high schools as well as seniors who have been homeschooled.
According to CEOS President Becky Wiegers, the scholarship will be based on income, merit, and a written essay. Gross family income must be equal to or less than the Hancock County median family income (currently $ 46,000), and applicants must have a GPA of at least 2.5.
The essay can be any length, as long as it is at least 500 words long, and must focus on the topic of volunteering and its impact on a community or, on a personal level, the writer.
Applications can be obtained by calling the WVU Hancock County Extension Office in New Cumberland at (304) 564-3805.
Applications must be completed and returned to the office, along with supporting documents, no later than May 31.
The Community Education Outreach Service is one of the many volunteer organizations in the University of West Virginia’s outreach service.
