ISD Navasota Superintendent Excited to Build on Academic Achievement and Momentum This Year
NAVASOTA, Texas (KBTX) – The first day of school for Navasota ISD students is Monday, August 22. Superintendent Dr. Stu Musick was in the Brazos Valley this morning Monday to talk about the year ahead.
“All staff and teachers have been back on campus since last Monday. So this will be our second week of full staff on duty and preparing for the return of students next Monday,” Musick said.
He said they were excited to continue building on their recent academic success. The district manager said superintendents and districts across the state recently graduated from college responsibility ratings from the Texas Education Agency.
“First grades we’ve had in three years, based on STAAR and end of course exams, and so we’re very happy to receive our grades,” Musick said. “Navasota ISD has done better than ever before, shown great progress and great growth.”
“When they are officially released from the state later this morning, we will be a District B. An 86 was our Academic Responsibility score and that is very exciting news. Our students and staff have worked very hard through the COVID years and through this process. And we were thrilled to be able to show the growth we’ve achieved over the past two years,” he said.
Dr. Musick also spoke about their ongoing efforts to review and update the district’s safety plan to keep students and staff safe. This includes a recent state-mandated audit and review plans that were already in place.
“It’s one of our priorities to make sure all of our students and staff are safe every day,” Musick said.
