Lorraine Brewer will receive the Di Brezzo award for her services to teaching

Lorraine Brewer, a teacher in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, has been selected as the recipient of the Ro Di Brezzo Award for Excellence in Service to Teaching for 2021-2022. Throughout her career, Brewer has conducted numerous teaching enhancement workshops for faculty on campus on a variety of topics ranging from student engagement to effective teaching in large-enrollment classrooms. .

Brewer currently teaches large sections of college chemistry and advises pre-pharmacy students. She has taught large sections of organics and biochemistry courses and has been an academic advisor to over 100 students per year. A member of the Teaching Academy, Brewer received the Dr. John and Mrs. Lois Imhoff Award for Outstanding Teaching and Student Mentoring in 2012 and the Fulbright Master Teacher Award in 2021.

The Di Brezzo Award, named in honor of former Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs Ro Di Brezzo, recognizes an individual who has provided outstanding service to teaching on campus through programs conducted by Wally Cordes Teaching and Faculty Support Center. Brewer will receive a plaque of recognition and a $500 teaching enhancement grant at the fall teaching awards reception Sept. 27.
