Riverland appoints new academic dean – Albert Lea Tribune
Riverland Community College has appointed Christy Tryus as the new Dean of Business, Social Sciences, Public Safety and Personalized Training. She started her new position on September 29.
Tryus has 25 years of experience in teaching, facilitating corporate training, leadership / business coaching and managing a sales team. She has experience in speech, supervisory management, personalized training and general study programs at Riverland over the past 13 years. Tryhus most recently served as Director of Career and Community Connections at Riverland Community College, building business partnerships to strengthen opportunities for students and local businesses.
Actively involved in Minnesota State Equity by Design as a member of the Riverland Cohort, Tryus leads a teaching and learning circle and learns more about how to incorporate culturally appropriate strategies into the classroom and the college.
Tryus holds an MBA from the University of St. Thomas, a Graduate Certificate in Communication and Education from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She received her BSc in Marketing from the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse. Tryus is a Certified Master Trainer, Lean Facilitator and Certified Coach.
Tryus will have offices on the Austin Campus in the East Building and on the Owatonna Campus, but she will work closely with all faculty and staff from all three campuses, including Albert Lea, Austin, and Owatonna.
Riverland Community College, a member of the State of Minnesota system, welcomes approximately 10,000 students per year through a wide range of credit-based educational opportunities and non-credit courses. The campuses are in Austin, Albert Lea and Owatonna.
