SP Jain Global student named Schwarzman Scholar – India Education | Latest Education News | Global education news
Mumbai: Manthan Shah, a fourth year student in SP Jain’s Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program, has been selected to join the 2023 cohort of Schwarzman Scholars, one of the world’s most prestigious graduate scholarships. As a Schwarzman Fellow, Manthan will travel to Beijing in August 2022 to begin a one-year Masters program in Global Affairs at Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University.
From an initial pool of nearly 3,000 applicants, the admissions team selected 151 Schwarzman Fellows from 33 countries and 106 universities. Panelists interviewed include the former Prime Minister of Australia, a senator in the Malaysian parliament, the New Zealand foreign minister, presidents, CEOs and CEOs of large multinational corporations and the dean of Schwarzman College.
Applicants for the prestigious scholarship are assessed for their leadership qualities and potential in bridging political and cultural differences between China and other countries. Manthan will join an exceptional group of people, including an academic who won the NASA design competition, an award-winning journalist, a delegate to the last United Nations General Assembly, an academic who founded his own space systems company at 15 years old, and several candidates on the Forbes 30 Under 30 List.
Speaking on his success, Manthan Shah said, “I thank my teachers at SP Jain for the support and guidance they gave me during the selection process. I am interested in exploring the intersection of sustainable finance and public policy. This prestigious scholarship will give me the opportunity to delve deeper into these topics and expose myself to a strong community of world leaders. This will go a long way in helping me achieve my goal of helping India meet its goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2070. ”

Born and raised in Ahmednagar, Manthan enrolled in SP Jain’s BBA program in September 2018. Manthan is Dean of the List and recipient of the prestigious Global Citizenship Award at SP Jain. He is one of the youngest authors to have been commissioned by Penguin Random House to write his first book “Unstoppable”, which will be published in February 2022. He is the producer and host of the Planet Impact podcast which shares stories from young agents of change. He is a two-time former Indian U-18 SGFI table tennis champion and the youngest Indian to win a trifecta in the Spartan race after competing in Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines in 2019.
While in Beijing, Manthan will have access to leading international faculty and global thought leaders. It will also benefit from exceptional exposure to China and access to the industry through lectures, internships, mentors and workshops.
