The Importance of Community for Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities – Shaw Local

Friends, job, activities, growth, home. All words used to describe Clearbrook. Clearbrook works tirelessly to ensure that those in her care live their full lives. Clearbrook cares for an individual throughout their life through a multi-faceted approach. This is accomplished through clinical services including speech therapy, physical, behavioral and occupational therapy, residential care, community day services, employment services, home services, and more. The goal is to help them be as independent as possible in their homes and communities. Therefore, community integration is essential and the relationships established between peers and with staff are similar to those of a family.

“We can’t imagine where our family would be without Clearbrook. Clearbrook welcomed Susie into a warm and thriving community, provided her with structure and purpose, and established a loving “second family” of friends in her group home. They constantly go above and beyond in their efforts to improve the lives of Clearbrook customers. – Sibling of an individual from Clearbrook

Clearbrook supports the interests of an individual. Volunteer opportunities, daily activities, community outings and more are tailored to their unique wants and needs.

“Clearbrook has provided a safe environment for our son. He became more independent during his career at Clearbrook. He enjoys interacting with his peers and has a much fuller life than he would have at home. At home, he was not interested in gardening. In Clearbrook, he takes care of his garden every day. – Parent of a Clearbrook resident
