Tiger football places 36 on MIAA academic honor roll

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – The Fort Hays state football team has placed 36 student-athletes on the MIAA 2021 Academic Honor Roll, the league office said on Friday.

Six Tigers took home superlative honors, including four Scholar-Athlete Award recipients and two Academic Excellence Award winners.

Strategist More likely, linebacker Layke Heimerman and Myles Menges and defensive back Jordan stark all received the Scholar-Athlete Award after also winning All-MIAA honors for their performances on the field. This is the second of those honors for Fuller and Starks and the first for Heimerman and Menges.

Alex schremmer and Judson Wiltfong both won the MIAA Academic Excellence Award for the second time after continuing to maintain a perfect 4.00 GPA class average.

Others who earn a place on the academic honor roll include David Arteaga, Fernando Avila-Castro, Sam brandt, Hayden Brown, Hunter brown, Hunter Budke, Aaron Corbin, Austin dale, Jack dawson, Ethan Forrester, Beau Foster, Colt fuller, Nick gossage, Jonathan hunnacutt, Dalton kuhn, Matthieu macy, Blake martin, Kade Melvin, Dalton miller, Trevion Mitchell, mason Pérez, Robinson clay, Tim schoepflin, Adrien soto, Landon, Shane Watts, White Soothsayer, Hayden wiltfong, Brett winsor and Kamren Xaysongkham.

A recipient of the MIAA Academic Excellence Award must have a cumulative grade point average used by the institution for the purposes of NCAA academic certification of 4.00 or better at the certifying member institution. The laureate must also have at least two quarters of presence in the certifying member institution, excluding summer quarters.

To qualify as a varsity athlete, an individual must have a cumulative grade point average used by the institution for the purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 at the certifying member institution. They must also have spent at least two terms of presence in the certifying member establishment, excluding summer terms. The student-athlete must also earn All-MIAA honors during the current season.

To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, an individual must have a cumulative grade point average used by the institution for the purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the member certifying institution, excluding summer terms.

First-year student-athletes, including transfers and true first-year students, will be recognized at the end of the school year when they meet both attendance requirements.
