Western Nevada College Offers 2022 First Baby Bursary to Banner Health | Carson City Nevada News

Western Nevada College added a new member to the Wildcat family this week – and it’s not even a week old.
As the first child born in 2022 to Banner Health in Fallon, Theodore Amorsolo James received a full academic scholarship from the WNC Foundation.

Theodore is the second son of Roberto James and Brittney Amorsolo of Fallon. They welcomed Theodore (7 ½ pounds and 19 ½ inches long) to their family at 5:26 am on Sunday January 2nd. His older brother, Leon James, will be 2 years old next month.

“It’s a good time,” Brittney said. “It’s been a roller coaster ride, but we’re happy as long as the kids are happy. “
The two-year scholarship was part of a gift basket Banner Health presented to new parents earlier this week.

“It definitely gives us a helping hand and a great opportunity as well,” said Brittney. “Knowing that this scholarship is in place makes us very grateful and we look forward to the future and that of our children. “

This is the first time that WNC has awarded a scholarship to Fallon’s first baby of the new year. Two years ago, WNC offered a 2020 Firstborn Bursary to Carson Tahoe Health.

“We are thrilled to be making a difference in the life of someone so young,” said Foundation Executive Director Niki Gladys. “The Foundation has transformed many lives through scholarships. This gift will serve as a goal, as well as an opportunity, to plan a career that Theodore is most interested in. “

Since 1971, WNC has provided life-changing higher education to students at its three northern Nevada campuses. Theodore will have the choice of attending the WNC in Fallon, Carson City or Minden, or online when he is ready for his university studies around 2040.

“Welcome to the Wildcat family, Theodore! Said Jessica Rowe, WNC director of Fallon Campus & Rural Outreach. “WNC Fallon is delighted to have you as part of our community and we are delighted to support you towards your bright future! “
